Yesterday, Alex stayed home from school. And no, I am not that cool of a Mom to let my kids skip out on a day when it is their birthday. Um, we only do that on other "special" occasions like wanting to have Mommy + Kid time. :) Anyway, Alex was legitimately sick...on his birthday.
I don't want to go into too much detail, but having to change sheets at 2 o'clock in the morning is not exactly the kinda party I want to attend. By mid morning Alex appeared to be on his way to a quick recovery,
but then a low grade fever struck. He was such a trooper putting on a brave face to blow out the candles and open a few gifts.
Surprisingly, he did not want to eat any cake. Or ice cream. If you know my child you understand his passion for all yummy, sugary sweets. For him to decline must mean he is really not well.
Before bed his temp was back up to 102.7. Thankfully it broke sometime during the night and today he is enjoying a chill day at home watching his new Star Wars movie and playing with a few new toys.
It looks like the birthday festivities are going to last well into the week...we still have to bring cupcakes to his classmates, get his birthday ribbon from the school office and have the big extravaganza on Saturday at Main Event.
Oooh fun!
Yes, there is a hint of sarcasm in my voice when I say that as I am not a fan of the fluffy birthday party. But it is what he wants and he deserves it so oblige, I will.
Here's to better days and eating lots of cake & ice cream!
